BIOGRAPHY

Born in Copenhagen, Denmark 1935, has lived in Norway since 1959.
She has 3 children and 9 grandchildren.
Professional folk-singer since the mid 1960’s with an extensive career of international concert touring, 20 LP-recordings, 6 CD albums, and numerous radio- and television appearances. reviews

In later years she has created various 1 hour programmes on literary and musical themes, mainly for senior audiences. See ‘current programmes’.

CONCERT REPERTOIRE:
Her repertoire covered Medieval ballads, Elisabethan songs, French chansons, political songs, childrens´songs, Bach sacred songs, religious folktunes, contemporary music, modern poetry set to music, vocal improvisations etc.

In the early 1960’s she worked as a TV-producer of children’s programmes at the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation.

She has a B.A. in Theatre Arts from University of Minnesota, USA.

Teaching certificate from the Music Conservatory of Oslo.

Since the mid-1980’s she has taught singing and voice training for vocalists,

actors and experimental theatre groups. Worked as a vocal trainer at the Baardar Musical Theatre Academy for 5 years.

She also teaches workshops in: “Voice liberation and sound meditation” and has followed a series of seminars in meditation techniques, Jung-psychology and art-therapy.

She has visited experimental theatre groups and taught workshops in Denmark, Norway, USA, Belgrade fed. rep. of Yugoslavia, India, Taiwan, New Zealand and Australia.

In 1977 she formed the quartet BALLADE together with fellow folksingers
Aase Kleveland, Lars Klevstrand and Lillebjorn Nilsen.
They had enormous success during the 3 1/2 years they worked together.

In the early 1980’s she was in the initiating group for the three
”NORDIC WOMEN PEACE MARCHES”:
Copenhagen-Paris -81. Stockholm-Moscow-Minsk -82. Oslo-New York-Washington -83, where they joined the great Martin Luther King march on Washington.

In 1986 she wanted to work with a more visual artistic expression and found her way back to the theatre through work with costumes and masks, and created performance-art projects for installations by other visual artists.

In 1991-92 she travelled around the world for a whole year as a “senior back-packer” and studied vocal traditions in other cultures.

She has created music for several dance-, and theatre performances with the voice as the only instrument in multitrack recordings, a.o. for the solo-performance

Participated as a singer and dancer in “BARGIDUVVON BALGAT”

at The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet 1998,

a ballet with a Same theme choreographed by INDRA LORENTSEN.

She established her own one-woman theatre group

“LITTLE WINDHARP THEATRE”

and produced two solo-performances:

“WHAT THE WINDHARP SANG” 1990

“MISSA MAMA”, 1996

and the Performance-art projects:

“LAST BIRD” 1988

“LIVING WINDHARP” 1990

Since 1997 she has had contact with “The Magdalena Project”, an international Women’s Theatre network connected to The ODIN Theatre of Denmark.
